The School Day

The school day begins at 9.00 am and all children should be in the playground as the bell rings for the first lesson. It is important however that children do not arrive too early as we cannot take responsibility for the safety and welfare of children before 8.50 a.m.

In an effort to develop independence from an early age we encourage parents to wave “goodbye” to their children at the main gate. The full timings in our school day are as follows:

9.00 to 10.30am

Morning Break

10.45 to 12.15pm

Lunch Break

1.00 to 2.00pm

Afternoon Break
(Reception, Y1 and Y2 children only)

2.10 to 3.00 pm

End of School Day

At the end of the school day, parents collecting the younger children from Classes Willow and Oak, should come onto the infant playground to collect their children, thus preventing too many waiting on the busy main road outside the school gate.

Break Time

Children are encouraged to bring fruit or cereal bars to school to eat at break time. Children up to the age of 7 are given fruit free of charge as part of a Government Healthy Eating initiative. We also operate a Healthy Tuck scheme at break times on Monday, Wednesday and Friday where children may purchase healthy snacks.

Water

Children are provided with a plastic water bottle and are encouraged to bring water to school. Children are allowed to have these available in their classroom during the day. Fresh cooled water machines are also accessible throughout the day.

The school has an effective Intensive Monitoring Programme in place in order to ensure that children who do not have happy experiences at playtime are monitored closely and that adults may intervene.
