Governors
On behalf of all our governors, welcome to the ‘Governors’ page of our website. As governors we are unpaid volunteers who are responsible for helping our school provide the best possible education for each and every one of our children. Together with the head teacher and the leadership team we lead our school, setting the vision and establishing the right culture to drive forward improvement to ensure the best life chances are secured for every child.
Governing a school is a demanding role but also an exciting one, especially now with the Government’s wider Every Child Matters objectives of ensuring that children stay safe, are healthy, enjoy and achieve, make a positive contribution and achieve economic well being. We help deliver these objectives for our children through our strategic role as governors.
Having been a parent governor for 10 years at a number of different schools, and having seen two sons and one daughter pass through Tetney Primary School, I am delighted to have been selected to chair our governing body. We will work collectively to deliver our vision that our children will be all that they can be, happy, safe, forming friendships and gaining more from school than just an education. We will support our professional and dedicated team of staff but also challenge where necessary to ensure we deliver our objectives.
Governors welcome feedback from the whole school community. If you have any comments you wish to make about our school, any of the governors would be delighted to hear from you. Please speak to any one of us. Finally, I would like to thank our governors for their dedication, hard work and all their time so freely given to governance.
Colin Childs
Chair of Governors
Tetney Primary School caters for children between the ages of four and eleven years. We currently have 112 pupils on roll and these are divided by age between four classes.
It is inevitable with seven primary school age bands and five classrooms, that there will be children of different year groups together. Our aim is to ensure that where mixed ages do occur, that work is planned accordingly to meet the appropriate needs of all children.
